FOSM has always worked closely with the Scarborough Land Trust on numerous projects and on extensive acquisitions of land abutting the Marsh and its tributaries. Recognizing the complementary nature of our missions and the urgent need for greater Marsh protection, Scarborough Land Trust and the Friends of the Scarborough Marsh are merging to create a stronger and more cohesive conservation organization in Scarborough. By aligning our organizations into one entity (under the Scarborough Land Trust name), we can leverage our respective strengths, expertise, and resources to achieve greater conservation results and community engagement on behalf of the Scarborough Marsh.
We can’t adequately express our gratitude for your many years of volunteering and financial support to FOSM in making this such an effective organization. Any currently unused past contributions to the Friends of the Scarborough Marsh will rollover and remain dedicated toward the Marsh and the mission of FOSM. You may designate any or all future contributions be directed toward the Scarborough Marsh Giving Fund within the Scarborough Land Trust. Two of our current FOSM board members, Betsy Barrett and Steve Pinette, will be joining the SLT Board of Directors and the remaining FOSM members will continue our work on the SLT Scarborough Marsh Committee. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email Steve Pinette at stevepinette@outlook.com.
We thank you for your past support and look forward to even greater successes through our combined and very urgent efforts to protect the Scarborough Marsh.
